Better Tools and Better Knowledge for Structural Genomics
Protein Structure Initiative (PSI) Workshop on Target Selection
|
What's New -- updated 1/8/04
A report on the NIGMS PSI Workshop on Target Selection is now available -- click here. | Time: November 13-14, 2003
Place: Natcher Conference Center, NIH
Organizing Committee: Brian Matthews (Chair), Ian Wilson, Stephen Burley, Burkhard Rost, John Norvell, and Jerry Li
Purpose of the workshop: During the initial pilot phase, the PSI research centers adopted target selection strategies that varied widely. These included targeting: the entire genome of a single organism, a small set of organisms, and family representatives of all the sequenced genomes. Participants of the workshop will assess the various principles and methodologies of target selection that have been adopted and suggest options for target selection for the next phase of the PSI. With many more genomes sequenced and annotated now and with initial results from the structural genomics projects, reassessment of the scope of the structural genomics initiative for evaluation of the merits and limitations of the target selection approaches is timely.
Participation: Leading experts in the field of structural genomics are invited to give their prospective views on target selection. A limited number of seats will be reserved for observers on a first-come-first-served basis.
