NIGMS staff members are located in the William H. Natcher Building (also called Building 45) on the main NIH campus. The building is close to the Medical Center Metro (subway) stop on the Red Line. From the Metro platform at the Medical Center stop, take the escalator to the street level, turn left, and take the pathway south toward the National Library of Medicine. The Natcher Building is between Metro and the NLM.

Driving Instructions
- From Baltimore and all points north of Washington, DC:
Take I-95 South toward Washington, DC.
At I-495 (Capital Beltway), head west toward Silver Spring/Bethesda.
From the Beltway (I-495), take Exit 34, which is Route 355 (Wisconsin Avenue/Rockville Pike), and head south toward Washington/Bethesda (note that you will need to stay in the right lane and follow the signs to Route 355 South, Bethesda).
At the fifth stop light, turn right onto South Drive. Please see the note below for further instructions on getting to the Natcher Building.
- From Virginia and all points south of Washington, DC:
Take I-95 North toward Washington, DC.
At I-495 (Capital Beltway), head north toward Rockville.
From the Beltway (I-495), take Exit 34, which is Route 355 (Wisconsin Avenue/Rockville Pike) toward Washington/Bethesda.
At the fifth stop light, turn right onto South Drive. Please see the note below for further instructions on getting to the Natcher Building.
- From Washington, DC:
Take Wisconsin Avenue (Route 355) north to Bethesda.
Cross Battery Lane and Woodmont Avenue, then turn left at the second stop light onto South Drive. Please see the note below for further instructions on getting to the Natcher Building.
- From National Airport:
Head west on the George Washington Parkway for approximately 5 miles.
Exit onto I-495 (Capital Beltway), heading north to Maryland.
From the Beltway (I-495), take Exit 34, which is Route 355 (Wisconsin Avenue/Rockville Pike), and head south toward Washington/Bethesda.
At the fifth stop light, turn right onto South Drive. Please see the note below for further instructions on getting to the Natcher Building.
Getting to the Natcher Building: Due to increased security on the NIH campus, a guard or policeman will stop you at the entrance to South Drive and ask for your driver's license and the purpose of your visit. You will be sent to a parking lot nearby, and your car will be inspected. After the inspection, you will receive a visitor pass. Continue down South Drive to the intersection with Center Drive. Turn left, then make the third left into the visitor parking lot. This turn is just after the turn into the plaza in front of the William H. Natcher Building (Building 45) and just before a large intersection and traffic light.
